As if 2017 isn’t flying by already, I can’t believe that Valentine’s Day is a week and a half away! Guys, time is flying so I hope you’ve been using your time wisely. For this occasion, yeah it’s cute to have a bae and do cute couple-y things, BUT it’s also pretty fun just dressing up with your girls and having a reason to overly wear the colors red and pink. So, whether you’re single this year or have plans on hanging with your significant other, there are a ton of fun looks that you could try to spice up cupid’s day this year!
With the holidays approaching, it’s hard not to indulge in a little velvety goodness! Last weekend I attended Cocktails with Claire, hosted by Claire Sulmers of FashionBombDaily.com and celeb stylist Ty Hunter. There were all types of fashion and beauty vendors at the event like Shop Nu clothing by Cyn Santana. Everyone arrived dressed to impress, including celebrities that were in the building like: Draya Michele, Teyana Taylor, Iman Shrumpet, Justine Skye and more!
This past weekend has been above and beyond…nothing short of amazing — Mya and I ventured out and really tapped into our creative energies. When it freezing outside it can be easy to be lazy and unproductive, but we fought against it and persevered! With work and everything else going on, it’s been hard for me to keep on track with my blog schedule, but I’m back and I can’t wait to end this year with a bang with you guys!
This past weekend was nothing short of amazing. I got to finally be a tourist in my new city, and explore every artsy part of New York I could find. I realized a lot this weekend…one of the things being that home isn’t necessarily a place. Home can be a person…home can be whatever makes you feel comfortable and at ease. Home is what you make it to be. This relates to so many aspects of life. Too often we get caught up in trying to label everything, but very seldom we reevaluate how it makes us feel.
It’s a lot like the seasons. Just because it’s fall doesn’t mean you can’t incorporate other things/pieces that make you feel good. On my trip to the Bronx to visit the Botanical Garden, I tapped into my balance: what makes me feel and how it makes me feel.
This weekend I really put my fears aside, and ventured out into the city alone. Now, I love doing things alone. I’m the type of person who enjoys spending time by myself and being able to work on/do things that I love. But I will say that this was my first weekend going to an event in the city by myself without my roommate(s). I survived, and I realized that there are some things you’re going to have to do alone. You shouldn’t be scared to take the risk. It’s all about character building and getting to know yourself.
Well, I found my way to the Aaliyah Jay Meet and Greet in Harlem, NY! She held a back-to-school event for all of her supporters at the The Vanity Box Boutique.
This past weekend I explored New York a bit, and networked for an amazing cause. A few girlfriends and I went to the Tuxedos, Toast and Trap Brunch at The Madison Square Tavern hosted by The New Stereotype. If you aren’t familiar with The New Stereotype, then you should be. This group of gals and guys come from diverse background to redefine the image of a black man/woman. Diversity is highlighted in every aspect — from career paths to skin tones, everything is built to elevate and empower the misconstrued imagery of being a hardworking black woman and man in this world.
Not only was this event surrounded by so much positivity and love, but there was tons of food and bottomless mimosa’s involved that topped off the festivities of the day!
