There’s so much more to life than what’s in front of you now…is what I’m trying to train myself to say everyday. The journey is made up of everything you’ve been through, everything you’ve survived and everything you’ve lived to tell. Over the past week, I’ve really thought about how far I’ve come as a person, as a woman…and I must say, I’m not completely where I want to be yet, but man am I really getting there! To become whole mentally, spiritually and physically is no easy task — it’s all about getting to know yourself, knowing your worth…and most times not taking no for an answer, especially in the situations where you know you deserve it all and then some.
This past weekend I went to Central Park with my roomie/friend Mya for a picnic with a few of her co-workers. This was my first time going to Central Park, and let me just say it looks exactly the way it’s displayed in the movies. It gives you fun, romantic vibes…especially with it being fall. There were so many people out enjoying the wonderful weather we had in NY. The weather didn’t last long FYI. Shortly after the beautiful 70 degree day there was a thunderstorm…but that’s neither here nor there.
I was able to capture the beauty a little bit, along with my picnic attire.
Nothing gets me more excited than new products! I was recently sent the new Clarisonic Mia 2 Device, and I fell in love with the product instantly. I’ve been wanting a Clarisonic device for quite some time now, so I was absolutely elated when they sent me one in the mail. I received the device, deep pore daily cleanser along with a clay mask that you can use 1-2 times a week. I’ve been using the products for about 3 weeks now, so I feel like I can finally give my review about it!
This past weekend was nothing short of amazing. I got to finally be a tourist in my new city, and explore every artsy part of New York I could find. I realized a lot this weekend…one of the things being that home isn’t necessarily a place. Home can be a person…home can be whatever makes you feel comfortable and at ease. Home is what you make it to be. This relates to so many aspects of life. Too often we get caught up in trying to label everything, but very seldom we reevaluate how it makes us feel.
It’s a lot like the seasons. Just because it’s fall doesn’t mean you can’t incorporate other things/pieces that make you feel good. On my trip to the Bronx to visit the Botanical Garden, I tapped into my balance: what makes me feel and how it makes me feel.
It’s been officially three months since moving to New York! This time is literally flying by, and I couldn’t let it continue without heading to Chicago to see my family and friends. Although I wasn’t able to do and see everyone that I wanted to, it was still nice being home. There’s nothing like being surrounded by genuine love and laughs. Completely warms my heart. On top of that, I was able to have quality cuddle time with our new pup, Supreme. I snapped a few moments! I hope you guys enjoy.
Guys! I can’t believe I missed a week of blogging — it’s been pretty hectic my way, as I am constantly brainstorming new content to give you all. Being a blogger always is a constant battle between quality and quantity. Sure, I can give you content every week, but will it be 100%? I always want to make sure it is, so I’m back and I’m better with some new fashion looks that I hope will brighten your day!
Well, fashion week has taken New York by storm, and to be completely honest I couldn’t wait to be immersed in all of the festivities! I went to the Essence Magazine Street Style Block Party and explored the Tommy Pier (check my next post for details on those events). Since I love fall fashion, I had to pick an outfit that showed off a fall look, while keeping the weather in mind. Can you guys believe that it’s 90 degrees in September? I’m seriously so over it.
So, I’m back at it again with another Home Diaries post because I obviously live in Target. There’s probably nothing that can stop me from taking a trip to Target just to see what I can find, but luckily it’s Labor Day weekend so I stumbled upon amazing deals. There was method to my madness! I can finally say that I’m about 90% done decorating my room (finally). The items I purchased from Target this weekend were well needed to help me organize my life a little bit better. If you know me, then you know how much I value my organization skills.
This weekend I really put my fears aside, and ventured out into the city alone. Now, I love doing things alone. I’m the type of person who enjoys spending time by myself and being able to work on/do things that I love. But I will say that this was my first weekend going to an event in the city by myself without my roommate(s). I survived, and I realized that there are some things you’re going to have to do alone. You shouldn’t be scared to take the risk. It’s all about character building and getting to know yourself.
Well, I found my way to the Aaliyah Jay Meet and Greet in Harlem, NY! She held a back-to-school event for all of her supporters at the The Vanity Box Boutique.
This past weekend I explored New York a bit, and networked for an amazing cause. A few girlfriends and I went to the Tuxedos, Toast and Trap Brunch at The Madison Square Tavern hosted by The New Stereotype. If you aren’t familiar with The New Stereotype, then you should be. This group of gals and guys come from diverse background to redefine the image of a black man/woman. Diversity is highlighted in every aspect — from career paths to skin tones, everything is built to elevate and empower the misconstrued imagery of being a hardworking black woman and man in this world.
Not only was this event surrounded by so much positivity and love, but there was tons of food and bottomless mimosa’s involved that topped off the festivities of the day!
