Why You Shouldn’t Stress Over Your New Year Resolutions

Wow, dare I say that this is my first blog post of the new year! Once again, thank you guys so much for sticking by me throughout 2017. Now that we are in 2018, I know it’s extremely important to hash out our goals and dreams – plotting our resolutions down into our new notebook. Trust me, I’m doing the same thing over here! I’ve been making sure that I’m staying on top of my career goals, as well as keeping my health and personal life in mind always. These things are important, and we should always remind ourselves of the goals we put in place, but don’t stress over them. Let me tell you why.

Goals are put into place to remind us of that greater thing we are reaching towards. Sometimes we get so fixated on our goals and resolutions that we start to lose the real reason why we planned them in the first place. I don’t know about you, but I think one of the problems is that we put EVERY resolution out into the universe, and yes this helps to hold us accountable to see through completion, but it also stresses us out because we feel like people are watching us to see if we are really going to do the things we said we would. It’s kind of like telling the world that you want to lose 100 lbs., but then towards the end of the year you find out you only loss 85 lbs. Are you going to be afraid to share what is still an accomplishment because it wasn’t exactly that you hoped for? DON’T BE!

Before pressuring yourself to complete all the resolutions on your list, think about the motivation. If you would be scared to share your accomplishment because it wasn’t quite what you wanted, then are you really doing it for YOU or to impress those around you? Motivation is a huge factor in success. If you are only making a resolution because it’s that time of year again and everyone else is doing it then it’s not going to work out.

I didn’t write this blog post to down anyone who is making resolutions – I think it’s awesome! I’m writing it to remind everyone that in creating and executing your resolutions, be mindful of the energy that you have throughout the process. Make sure that it’s positive and makes you feel good internally and externally. Reward yourself on how far you’ve come, without looking at the amount of time it might have taken. Don’t let anyone’s thoughts and opinions hinder you from sharing! It’s important to be proud of every stride you take to become a better YOU.

I hope that everyone started their year off in the greatest way! Comment what your resolutions for the year are below? I would love to see them 😊
