Hi beauties! I hope that you all are having a fantastic Mother’s Day with your loved ones. Unfortunately, I’m in New York for this day so I’m unable to spend it with my mom in Chicago, but I thought it would be nice to share with you all the top five things I’ve learned from her in my almost twenty-six years of life! Keep reading for tips and tricks from my mom that have gotten me through the years.
Give without expecting it back – If you know my mom then you know that she’s a constant giver. She’s always doing for others without expecting to receive anything back. That’s what I love about her the most! Whenever I need anything, I know I can count on my mom to support me and help me through any and everything. From her, I’ve learned how to give out of the love of my heart, and not to receive anything back in return.
Know your worth & be true to yourself – Throughout the years, I’ve learned from my mom to be true to myself without losing myself in the process. As you go through the motions of life, it’s so important to have someone in your corner who keeps you grounded and reminds you who you are as a person. My mom does that each and everyday for me, and she is a constant reminder that I deserve the very best in life. Settling has never been her forte.
Take care of business first – When it comes to taking care of business, my mom is always the first person I call. Whether it’s dealing with my personal finances or a dental appointment (lol), my mom is always the one who helps me through it all. She’s always taught me to take care of business first, and have fun later. Making sure that I’m organized and prepared is definitely a trait that I get from her.
Keep it clean – This one is certainly one that I’ve taken into account while living on my own. My mom raised us to keep our living areas clean at all times. Although I didn’t understand it much growing up, and probably gave so much attitude when she woke me up out of my sleep to clean my room – this is something I appreciate so much. Just know that my room is always clean because of her lol.
Stand your ground – Lastly, my mom has always taught me to stand my ground in any situation and to be a lady while doing so. It’s very easy to let the world get the best of you these days. Lucky for me I have someone there to let me know what I’m doing is worth the fight.
Happy Mother’s Day everyone! What has your mom taught you over the years? Comment below.
