This past weekend I went to Central Park with my roomie/friend Mya for a picnic with a few of her co-workers. This was my first time going to Central Park, and let me just say it looks exactly the way it’s displayed in the movies. It gives you fun, romantic vibes…especially with it being fall. There were so many people out enjoying the wonderful weather we had in NY. The weather didn’t last long FYI. Shortly after the beautiful 70 degree day there was a thunderstorm…but that’s neither here nor there.
I was able to capture the beauty a little bit, along with my picnic attire.
Lace It Up
Honestly, I had no clue what to begin to wear to a fall picnic, so I made a complete mess in my room looking for a fall chic fit. I was able to piece together a look that I actually enjoyed!
I recently purchased this lace up black long sleeve shirt from Forever 21, and what I love most about it is how comfy and heavy it is. The shirt has a slightly ribbed texture, and the lace + black was just a plus for me as a basic piece for fall…and it wasn’t expensive either! Since the lace up is the new trend, some items are starting to be priced pretty high, so I would say check at Forever 21 for lace up basic pieces that you can match with a variety of outfit ideas.
My jeans were also from Forever 21. There’s nothing really special about them besides the slit in the knees. I’ve been looking for jeans like these, so I was excited when I found them. Now I just need a pair in black to complete my life!
The Complete Look
I brought everything together with a grey-ish mauve fur vest. I purchased this vest from Carson’s maybe a year back. I love it because of how unique the color is. I’m not really a fur vest type of person, but I think it’s something about this vest being to my knee that won me over. For shoes, I just wore my black booties from Forever 21. I’d really love to shop around for more black boots, but until then these are definitely my favorite. I can wear them for an entire day, and not complain one bit.
On this beautiful day I realized that I have a lot to be thankful for. Often times we go through the motions of life, and forget to look back at how far we’ve come. I think back to last year, and comparing it to this year doesn’t even come close. We think a lot about the future. Where we’ll be in 5 years, 1 year, 6 months. None of these things are under our control. We can only live in the now, and embrace the unforeseen changes that haven’t even occurred yet.
Challenge yourself to look around you and accept the things you have, and not continuously long for the things you don’t. Everything will be granted to you in due time! Just be patient, recognize your worth and let it happen.
