There’s so much more to life than what’s in front of you now…is what I’m trying to train myself to say everyday. The journey is made up of everything you’ve been through, everything you’ve survived and everything you’ve lived to tell. Over the past week, I’ve really thought about how far I’ve come as a person, as a woman…and I must say, I’m not completely where I want to be yet, but man am I really getting there! To become whole mentally, spiritually and physically is no easy task — it’s all about getting to know yourself, knowing your worth…and most times not taking no for an answer, especially in the situations where you know you deserve it all and then some.
There’s Beauty In The Journey
Do you guys ever look through your phone at the different notes and reminders that you wrote days, months or even years ago? Well, never delete them! Let them be your reminders that show how far you’ve come. On Friday, I found a note in my phone from 2013, titled “Work to be a better you”. In the note it read:
- Demand respect
- Don’t settle for less than you deserve
- See the signs
- Don’t force anything
- Don’t change your standards for anyone
- Don’t try to change anyone or anything
- Let it come naturally
- Let go, even if it hurts
- Don’t backtrack
- Remember, you can’t make someone stay in your life
I read all of these things, and I kept thinking to myself that someone out there needs to hear this. Someone out there is going through something, and they need these words. I haven’t revisited these words in so long, but I’m glad that I ran past them. It made it think about how short life is, and how every step you take needs to deem a call-to-action. You need to be working to make yourself a better you. When you do that, everything else falls into place, and the stress and worrying disappears.
I put my purpose into action this weekend, and went out to shoot with my roomie/friend. Let me tell you guys, I’ve been looking for a leather jacket for so long, but I was just waiting for the perfect time I guess. I purchased this leather jacket from Zara, and it was the greatest steal ever! With the jacket I paired a ribbed turtle-neck from HM and a brown suede skirt from Necessary Clothing. I’m queen of neutrals, so these colors fit me perfectly.
My accessories were my brown bookbag from Marshalls and my sunglasses of course! What sold me on the bag was the chunky zipper. I mean, how could you not fall in love? Chunky everything is in right now, so you might as well catch it while it’s hot. What would you say your favorite trend is right now? Comment below!
Slow It Down
Alright guys, so you know I can’t end a post without forcing you to challenge yourself this week! I want you to think about all of your fears and insecurities that stop you from reaching your full potential. What are they? Write them down. Write them in your notes on your phone or in a notebook. Then write down reminders that uplift you and counteract those negative thoughts.
You are your biggest critic. Once you get pass yourself, you will be unstoppable! Remember, you have gotten this far, so what’s holding you back from reaching a new level?
