Last week, I woke up at 5:30am. Now, if you know me then you know that this is very rare. I’m the kind of person that loves to sleep as long as I possibly can, but I’ve come to understand that when I do that then I tend to feel: rushed, unorganized and flustered. I’ve come to the conclusion that this is something I truly needed to get better at. I’m always reading about the benefits of getting up early in the mornings and all of the things that people are able to get done, so I tested it myself. I woke up at 5:30am, chilled in bed for about 15 minutes to adjust and fully wake up, then it was go time!
The first thing I did was head to the kitchen to make coffee, because coffee makes my mornings better automatically. The second thing I did was head to my room, open my laptop and plan what needed to be done in the extra hour and a half that I now had. The third thing I did was open the newest app on my phone, WEYV!
Using the WEYV app that morning boosted my energy and really got me excited for the day! If you aren’t familiar with WEYV, it is an ad-free subscription-based app that allows you to not only listen to your favorite tunes, but also read magazine AT THE SAME TIME. Talk about the ideal feature for us multi-taskers out there! You’re able to customize and share your music stations with family/friends, and the best part is that they donate 0.5% to charities.
Since sometimes I’m unable to get my hands on a physical magazine, it meant a lot to me that I could read the latest issue through the WEYV app and capture some amazing ideas for my blog/brand. It also meant a lot that I could listen to music at the same time to fuel my energy for the day.
Being a New Yorker, you often feel like you don’t have enough time in the day to get things done. You don’t have the time to really “catch” up in the mornings because we’re always on the go. I’m glad that I was able to take time out to check a few things off my list before heading out the door, while still blasting tunes from my WEYV app!
So, I found that the benefits of waking up early did a few things for me that day:
- It boosted my energy and fuel for the work day
- I was able to get A LOT done for my blog/brand
- I was able to relax and not feel rushed
- I was able to prep everything I need for the day
- I was able to catch up on my favorite magazine issues and music through WEYV
The blog post was in partnership with WEYV.
