Well, fashion week has taken New York by storm, and to be completely honest I couldn’t wait to be immersed in all of the festivities! I went to the Essence Magazine Street Style Block Party and explored the Tommy Pier (check my next post for details on those events). Since I love fall fashion, I had to pick an outfit that showed off a fall look, while keeping the weather in mind. Can you guys believe that it’s 90 degrees in September? I’m seriously so over it.
Tis The Season
When it comes to pairing, I think you guys are slowly getting the hint that I can’t help but fuse sporty and chic. Mainly because merging two different styles make for a better outfit…and because I like to be comfy when I know I’m going to be out and about! I went to Urban Outfitters, and left with a complete outfit. I also left trying to remember why I ever stopped shopping at Urban to begin with.
If you haven’t been in Urban Outfitters lately, they have an amazing Adidas line. The Urban Outfitters in Soho mainly catered to their black and white embroidered collection. I absolutely had to have this top. The material sold me alone. It’s a fair balance when it comes to weight. It can definitely be an all-around piece — if you wanted to rock this in summer or winter you could without a doubt.
The black suede-paneled skirt allow me to channel my inner Kim Kardashian. It tightened in all the right places, and the leather added the perfect touch to bring my outfit to life. I normally don’t purchase mini skirts because of my height, but at this point I don’t care. Can’t control being tall, so I chose to show off my long legs!
Ladies, always embrace every part of you. Be your biggest fan, and push yourself out of your comfort zone.
Keep It Street
Being in a city with endless opportunities is breath-taking and overwhelming all at once. What I’ve learned is that every situation is what you make it. You can choose to sit back, wait at home for plans or you can get out and write your own journey. There’s a sea of what you haven’t discovered out there ready for you to take a chance. Let yourself go sometimes, be free. Especially when you’re in your 20s. Make plans. Make friends. Make memories.
Sometimes you have to start with something as small as stepping out of your comfort zone fashion-wise. It doesn’t matter where you start, where you end is the goal.
I challenge you to wear something this week that you normally wouldn’t. I challenge you to embrace everything. You are a queen. You are beautiful, and you can wear, do, be whatever you want!
